Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Why Do I Need a Home Inventory ? A: There are many advantages to having a thorough home inventory. According to the Insurance Information Institute (iii), "Having an up-to-date home inventory will help you get your insurance claim settled faster, verify losses for your income tax return and help you purchase the correct amount of insurance." Ask your insurance agent or financial planner and they are sure to recommend a home inventory. Like insurance, a home inventory will protect you in a time of need, after a fire, theft or disaster. With SafeBox™ you can immediately submit your claim and focus your time and energy on other important matters. And at a time when speed counts, your claim can be expedited, your settlement ...the maximum available! Going through the claims process without proper documentation will almost guarantee delays, frustration and in the end, a strong possibility that you'll receive a significantly less settlement than you should. Perhaps, tens of thousands less! In addition, a SafeBox™ Home Inventory can be critical in identify your stolen property. In many cases the police recover stolen property but are unable to return it to the owner because the owner lacks proof of ownership. Your stolen property could be placed on a national data base. Recovering your stolen property could be as easy as providing the police the serial number of the items stolen. A complete home inventory can be of great value for estate planning, as well as documenting possessions being placed in storage or prior to a move. Owners of vacation homes find SafeBox™ Home Inventory an invaluable tool as well.
Q: What is the Difference Between a SafeBox™ Home Inventory and Doing it Myself ? A: SafeBox™ is an independent / third party company. We are professionals equipped with the latest in technology. We completely understand the home inventory process and can provide our service in a fraction of the time and money it would take the homeowner. Our process incorporates three levels of detail; video, photographs and itemized reporting, insuring our client that nothing will be missed. A SafeBox™ Home Inventory provides three additional steps missed by most homeowners who have done their own home inventory. 1.) Your insurance settlement will help you replace your home and possessions. What about your difficult to replace or irreplaceable documents? SafeBox™ will protect those documents and provide copies should you ever need them. For more information see the below question - "What is SafeDoc™?". 3.) Once you've been "Boxed", your home inventory can be easily updated for years into the future. SafeBox™ will contact you once a year and provide three easy ways to update your home inventory file either by phone, mail or email. This service is included in the $45 subscription fee. A: Numerous times a year we all grant strangers access to our homes. It's a risk we take for the betterment and upkeep of our home. Some of those strangers include housekeepers, repairmen, and carpet installers to name a few. SafeBox™ recognizes your concerns. We would never send a total stranger into your home.
